Weight limits, trailers and what to know before you book a load with us.
Last updated 22 October 2026
In short
- We carry full loads. Tractor unit only, trailer arranged per job.
- The weight we can carry depends on the route, the trailer and the plates.
- We plan every load at 44 t gross until the trailer and its plates are confirmed.
- Loads to or from mainland Europe are planned at 40 t gross.
Weight limits by route
These are gross weights: the truck, the trailer and your load together.
| Route | Gross weight | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Within Ireland | Up to 46 t on 6 axles | Subject to plating and trailer. We plan at 44 t until these are confirmed. |
| Northern Ireland | 44 t | UK road limit. |
| Ireland and Great Britain | 44 t | Ferry included. |
| Mainland Europe, cross-border | 40 t | By direct ferry or landbridge. |
Plating and the trailer
Every truck and trailer carries a plate that shows the most weight it is allowed to carry. If a plate is lower than the road limit, the plate sets the limit for your load.
46 t in Ireland is only possible with a 6-axle truck and trailer that are plated for it. The trailer is arranged for each job, so we confirm the trailer and its plates before we confirm the weight we can carry. Until then, we plan at 44 t.
Ferry routes
Loads that cross by ferry are planned at up to 44 t gross. Loads to or from mainland Europe are planned at 40 t gross, whichever ferry or landbridge route is used.
Before you book
Please have these ready when you ask for a quote or a booking:
- Places. The pickup and delivery addresses, with the Eircode or postcode.
- The load. What the goods are and how they are packed, for example on pallets or in crates.
- Weight. The true weight of the load. You must declare it. We may refuse or reduce a load that is heavier than declared or over the limit.
- Size. The length, width and height, and the number of pallets. Anything longer, wider or taller than a standard trailer must be agreed before booking.
- Loading times. When the load can be collected and delivered, the site opening hours, and how it is loaded, for example by forklift or crane. You load and unload.
Documents for cross-border loads
- Loads to or from Great Britain, or travelling through it, need customs paperwork for the goods. Please have the commercial invoice ready and tell us who your customs agent is.
- A CMR consignment note travels with every international load.
- Customs fees and declarations for your goods are not included.
